Welcome

Thank you for taking time to learn more about my positive campaign for growth! My name is Rachel Lopez and I am running for Mesquite City Council, Place 4. I have been a resident of Mesquite since 1991 and an active member of our community.

Rachel LopezI believe it is important for every citizen to feel a connection to their city, community, and neighborhood, and to know their voice is heard and their concerns matter. To have a sense of connection creates a sense of pride and community spirit. A sense of pride and community spirit leads to positive growth in many areas within the city.

Leadership, Experience, Commitment

The following are examples of various leadership positions I currently hold or have held over the past several years in Mesquite:

  • Founder and current President of the Hispanic Forum of Mesquite, Inc. established in 2005;
  • Active member of the Tealwood Neighborhood Club since 1991, responsible for organizing neighborhood Crime Watch meetings, National Night Out, and various neighborhood events, all in an effort to stimulate positive interaction and open communications between neighbors;
  • Served on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board/Tree Board;
  • Completed both the Citizens Police Academy and Citizens Fire Academy respectively, and am currently active in both Alumni Associations relating to these academies;
  • Current member, Mesquite Service League and Chair of the Public Relations Committee of that organization;
  • Public Relations Liaison for Divine Mercy Catholic Church;
  • Member of Advisory Council for St. Pius X School;
  • Committee Member, 2008 Real.Texas.Festival.

My years of involvement with our community clearly indicate that I am dedicated to this city and passionate about working with various departments and organizations. Mesquite is in a great position and has a wonderful opportunity to move forward at this time. I want to be a part of that forward planning and ensure that the next move for our city is made with the best interest of the entire community in mind.

I am serious about serving as your next City Council person for Place 4.

I would be honored to be YOUR VOICE AT CITY HALL!

Increased Communication:
There is a great need for increased communication between City Hall and the community at-large. City leaders should be more accessible; leaders should be out in the community listening to the needs and concerns of their constituents.

Revitalization:
Mesquite is "our" city. Let us work together to bring all neighborhoods and retail establishments into the new century; let us work together to bring about the much-needed revitalization that our city deserves.

Attract Businesses:
We need to take a more proactive stance to attract and obtain new business and industry into our area. Even more importantly, we need to listen to and address any needs and concerns of our established business owners of Mesquite. Maintaining good relationships with our established partners and friends is equally as important as making new ones!

I Will Be Your Voice at City Hall:
I have a history of being a very hard worker in the community. My passion and dedication to working and being a positive part of our community is incomparable! Let me be YOUR voice at City Hall and, together, let us make a positive difference in Mesquite!
